When to Split in Online BlackjackWhen should you split when playing online blackjack? Let’s consider all of the options for splitting in blackjack so you know when to split and when not to. Before we get to the exact hands we want to mention that the goal with splitting is to get more money on the line when the dealer is weak. Instead of one hand you are now playing two. And at some online casinos you may have the option of splitting again and you will want to do that if you have an advantage. Now let’s get to the specifics. Always split Aces and almost always split 8’s. When you split Aces most casinos will only give you one more card and you won’t be able to split again or double down. Some online casinos won’t let you split again regardless or double down so check out the rules before playing. You should never be splitting 5’s or 10’s which includes face cards because you don’t want to weaken your current hand. You split 2’s and 3’s and 6’s when the dealer is showing a 4, 5, 6, or 7. You want to split 7’s when the dealer is showing a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 and you should split 9’s when the dealer is showing 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 9 and it is up to you when the dealer has a 7 showing. You should split 4’s if the dealer is showing a 5 or 6 and you may want to split 6’s if the dealer is showing a 5 or a 6. Keep these tips in mind when playing online blackjack.
