Splitting in Aces in Online BlackjackShould you always split Aces when playing online blackjack? Let’s take a look at the decision and the math behind it. The first thing you should be aware of is that most casinos only allow one card to be drawn after you split aces. This means you get just one card on each of your aces and it will not be considered a natural blackjack and does not get a bonus. If you decide to split aces then you are basically doubling down. You win about 60% of the time and lose 40% of the time. If you split against a dealer’s up card of 10 then you will still win 54% of the time and lose about 46% of the time. If you decide not to split the aces you will win 53% of the time and lose 47% of the time. If you are a conservative player then not splitting aces is not a bad option because you put less money at risk and win almost the same percentage of hands. It is worth noting that you will win both hands when you split aces only 30% of the time but you will lose both hands only about 13% of the time. You break even about 42% of the time. The other 15% will be split between winning one hand and pushing the other and losing one hand and pushing the other. Splitting aces is the most favorable decision in the long term when you are playing online blackjack but the edge over not splitting is not huge.
