European No Hole Card Blackjack
A version of blackjack available at some online casinos is European No Hole Card Blackjack. Let’s look at this online blackjack game.
The difference between European No Hole Card Blackjack and regular blackjack is that the dealer doesn’t take a hole card until after all of the players have their hands and made their wagers. The major difference in this game is that when the dealer gets blackjack, the player would lose any splitting or doubling wagers. When the dealer has no hole card he can’t check for blackjack so players can make a second bet or they might choose to split. For example, if the dealer has a ten as the up card and the player has 11 and then doubles, the player would lose the original bet and the double down bet if the dealer has a blackjack.
The house edge in ENHC goes up about 0.11 percent versus normal blackjack at the online casino. The basic strategy in this game also changes a little bit when the dealer shows an ace or a face card although it is not a huge difference.
Keep in mind that the method of dealing in ENHC has no impact on the dealer’s final hand. The average hand for the dealer will still be the same but on the rare occasion when the dealer does have blackjack and the player splits or doubles down, the player will lose more money.
