Double Exposure Blackjack

One of the exciting varieties of blackjack that you can play at many online casinos is double exposure blackjack. Let’s take a look at what sounds like a great game for the player.

Double exposure blackjack is played with the same 52 card deck and for the most part the game is the same as regular blackjack. The main difference is that you get to see both of the dealer’s cards. While it sounds great that you get to see both of the dealer’s cards, the house edge in double exposure blackjack is actually higher than regular blackjack.

The problem with double exposure blackjack for the player is that all ties go to the house. That is a huge edge as the dealer wins all ties except for a natural blackjack. Also, when players do get a blackjack it only pays even money. Players can only split once and in some cases there are restrictions on doubling down.

The advantage to double exposure blackjack is that you can do things differently to increase your chances of winning. For example, you might split two ten-card values if the dealer is holding 13, 14, 15 or 16. Normally you would never know what the dealer’s total was so you would never split 10’s. You would also never hit 17, 18, 19 or 20 but if the dealer has two face cards you have no choice but to hit, even if you have 20 because ties lose.

It is definitely fun to play double exposure blackjack because you can see the dealer’s cards but keep in mind that the house edge on the game is actually higher than regular blackjack.
